Accessing the FTP site

To upload files you must use an "FTP Client" program such as Fetch (for Macintosh computers) or the FTP shell that comes with Windows 95 or later. (Unless of course you are running on a Unix or unix-type OS.) If you want an interface which resembles the "Windows Explorer" program, you can try different freeware/shareware programs available, such as "FTP explorer" or "Cute FTP". These you can find from sources such as www.download.com.

For Macintosh computers using "Fetch":
* Type in the ftp address, name and password in the appropriate fields.
* Request connection. (Please remember that the name and password are case sensitive.)
* Once you are connected, press the "Put file..." button. ("Put" sends, "Get" receives.)
* Select (highlight) the files you want to upload and press the "Open" button. Depending on the type of file selected, you will be given a choice of format in which to transmit the file. (It is recommended that you "stuff" and "binhex" encode your files, using a utility like StuffIt. )
* Press the "OK" button.

For Windows based computers:
Various FTP clients are available under Windows, each with their particular interface. Please be advised that the way some of these programs feed the name and the password to our server causes it to deny the connection. If this is the case please use the FTP shell as described next.
* Locate the Command Prompt program in your Start menu.
* At the command prompt "c>" type "ftp" (don't include the quote marks) and hit .
* Your prompt will read "ftp>".
* Type "open ftp.colorone-systems.com" (again, don't include the quotes).
* A connection will open to our server and a user name will be requested.
* Type "color1ftp" (no quotes) and hit .
* A password will be requested. Type "film" (no quotes).
* A welcome message will display.
* Type "put nameoffile.ext" where "nameoffile.ext" is the name of the file (including the path of its location) you want to send.
* Repeat for all the files you wish to transmit. It is recommended that you zip your files in a single file, for easier and faster handling.
* To quit the ftp shell, type "bye" (no quotes).
Please don't forget to fax in your order form and proofs. Your job will not be processed until we receive it.
